Meditation is an ancient practice that involves training the mind to achieve a heightened state of awareness, focus, and inner tranquility. Meditation has been proven to be a powerful tool for promoting mental well-being. The benefits of meditation for mental health are multifaceted, contributing to overall emotional balance and cognitive clarity.
One of the primary advantages of meditation is stress reduction. By engaging in mindful meditation techniques, individuals learn to cultivate a non-judgmental awareness of their thoughts and emotions, creating a space for mental relaxation. This process triggers the relaxation response, reducing the production of stress hormones and promoting a sense of calm.

Meditation serves as an effective method for enhancing emotional regulation. Regular practice enables individuals to observe their emotions without becoming overwhelmed by them, fostering a greater understanding of their own mental states. This increased emotional intelligence can lead to improved self-control and better management of challenging situations.
Meditation has been associated with heightened attention and concentration. The practice encourages individuals to focus their attention on the present moment, developing the ability to sustain concentration and resist distractions. This heightened cognitive control can extend to various aspects of life, improving productivity and decision-making skills.

Meditation has been linked to a reduction in symptoms associated with anxiety and depression. Research suggests that consistent meditation practice can alter brain structure and function, leading to positive changes in areas related to mood regulation. This makes meditation a valuable complementary approach in mental health treatment plans.

Meditation techniques, particularly those focused on relaxation and mindfulness, can help alleviate insomnia and improve overall sleep quality. The calming effects of meditation contribute to a more restful and rejuvenating sleep experience.

Meditation stands as a holistic practice that nurtures mental health by addressing various aspects of well-being. Its benefits extend beyond the meditative session, influencing daily life and fostering a resilient mind capable of navigating the complexities of modern existence with greater ease and serenity.

Hello!!

I’m deeply committed to supporting couples and families who are navigating the common emotional challenges we all experience. Witnessing the transformative potential of interpersonal connections has left me deeply in awe. Consequently, my counseling philosophy is underpinned by a holistic perspective, acknowledging the diverse factors influencing our well-being. Life is replete with moments of hardship, we all go through them, and I find immense satisfaction in helping couples and families through these complex experiences.

People seek counseling for a myriad of reasons—ranging from managing anxiety and depression to navigating intricate relationship dynamics. I strive to comprehend the distinct position each person find themselves. My commitment is to support and guide couples and families through the spectrum of challenges they face by understanding the big picture of their circumstances.

I place great value on the intricate web of connections we have—with ourselves, our minds, bodies, spirits, and each other. My goal is to enhance self-worth and efficacy within the organic framework of an individual’s connections. Whether you come as an individual, as a couple, or as a family contending with life’s demands, I invite them to bring their concerns to counseling, and together, we’ll embark on a journey of healing and personal growth.

My Educational Background:

My educational journey commenced at Scottsdale Community College, where I achieved certification in Yoga instruction and pursued advanced training in yoga therapy. Following that, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health with a focus on health education from Brigham Young University-Idaho. Subsequently, I completed my Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling at Grand Canyon University. I consider myself fortunate to have received education in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), which has significantly shaped the trajectory of my career. In addition to my counseling career, I have undergone training in fostering family connections and addressing trauma through interpersonal bonds. I have advanced training in teaching skills. Currently, I am a doctoral student dedicated to the field of marriage and family therapy, pursuing a Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy.

My Professional Journey:

My professional journey commenced with part-time teaching of seminary to high school students, an experience I found fulfilling. Recognizing my desire to work more directly with individuals, I decided to pursue a Master’s degree in professional counseling. One of my most impactful roles involved working with foster children to establish and nurture family connections. This experience reaffirmed my core belief that we are all inherently wired for loving connections. As a licensed therapist, I specialize in marriage and couples counseling, driven by my commitment to providing the best care for my clients. This commitment is further underscored by my current pursuit of a Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy, ensuring that I stay at the forefront of my field.

Beyond Therapy:

My personal philosophy aligns with my therapeutic approach. I take pleasure in the moments spent with my husband of 30 years and our young adult children, who bring boundless joy into my life. In the intricate tapestry of family, navigating the challenges of raising teenagers and young adults has emerged as one of the most rewarding seasons of my life. In addition to my passion for counseling, I find fulfillment in practicing and sharing the transformative practices of yoga, breathwork, and meditation. Embracing the warmth of the Arizona sun, you can often find me outdoors, engaging in activities like hiking, walking, and taking leisurely drives with good music. And as a proud grandparent, my three grandchildren add an extra layer of delight and richness to my life.
